From the Board of Directors through to every employee, IMO recognises the need for corporate environmental and social responsibility, along with its business ethics and governance, both directly and indirectly throughout our supply chain. We endeavour to consider the areas of environmental impact, social responsibility and corporate governance in a committed and coordinated manner:
Environmental
We recognise that, both as a company and as individuals, we should operate in an environmentally conscious manner and endeavour to minimise the impact of our business activity on the environment wherever possible. We actively seek to ensure that our investments and operations are geared towards increasing sustainability, reducing pollution through promoting renewable and clean energy sources, and minimising our direct and indirect carbon footprint. We encourage our employees to behave responsibly and to generate ideas through which the company might reduce its negative environmental impact. We comply with all current environmental legislation and good practice in all the territories in which we operate. We actively seek ways to reduce direct energy consumption (electricity, gas, fuel, travel and water) through the adoption of low energy consumption options wherever practicable. We require that all of our business partners, whether they are regularly or irregularly used, maintain the highest environmental standards and favour those who are active in reducing their impact on the environment and also proactive in identifying, managing, reducing and eliminating the use of hazardous substances in their manufacturing processes and products. We maintain management controls, segregation and disposal of waste material and the continuous search for ways to reduce or re-use waste materials. We actively seek ways to switch to zero waste products or sustainable packaging using biodegradable materials. We comply fully with the latest RoHS (2015-863-EU) and WEEE (2012-19-EU) Directives ensuring that our products contain no banned substances and contain a level equal to or less than that stipulated by the Directive for homogenous materials (see link).

Social
We consider the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees as our top priority. To minimise employee exposure to potential safety hazards we undertake training and controls/safe work procedures are put in place which are then monitored and revised where necessary. We are aware that, in some instances, potential hazards exist due to the nature of the work being performed so we ensure that workers are provided with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Machinery is monitored to ensure that, where necessary, physical guards and barriers are provided and correctly maintained and handling equipment such as forklift trucks are assessed and serviced regularly. Employees are informed of their duties under the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 especially their personal and legal responsibilities to take due care in relation to the health and safety of themselves and others and not to endanger other persons by their acts or omissions Employees are encouraged to raise safety concerns that they may feel they have identified. We ensure a systematic approach to identifying hazards and potential emergency situations and the risks involved are identified and assessed in order to minimise impact. We implement emergency planning, worker training, fire notification and suppression systems, along with adequate premises exits and appropriate evacuation procedures. Should there be an occurrence of occupational injury or illness, we have procedures in place to prevent, manage, track and report such instances and where necessary provide first line medical assessment. We are committed to the support of the human rights of workers and we will not support organisations where there is forced employment, child labour, inappropriate behaviour or working conditions, or discrimination. Governance
We ensure accurate reporting to all stakeholders in relation to company financial performance, operational performance and business strategy. We ensure full professional financial annual audit of our businesses both in the UK and at our overseas subsidiaries. We comply with all relevant financial and regulatory requirements in each country in which we operate. We ensure that we implement adequate internal controls, processes and procedures to protect the business and its stakeholders and ensure that our managers are accountable for risk and performance in each sector of our business. As business information is now predominantly computer based, we prescribe to the regulations and requirements of the Data Protection Act and undertake to abide by the following principles:
- Personal data will be processed fairly and lawfully.
- Personal data will only be held for specific purposes and will be accurate, adequate, relevant, and not excessive.
- IMO supports the rights of individuals to have access to their personal data
- Appropriate technical and organisational measures will be taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data.
- Information to be disclosed, whether it be regarding the business, financial or performance, will only be disclosed in line with good industry practice and applicable regulations.
- Personal data shall not be transferred to a country or territory outside the EEA unless that country or territory ensures an adequate level of protection for the rights and freedoms of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data.
We require that all our business partners, whether they are regularly or irregularly used, maintain the highest standards of business integrity within their organisations and specifically in their interactions with IMO or any other associated business. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of bribery and should any of our employees found to be offering or accepting such incentives then they will be subject to disciplinary action, possibly resulting in dismissal. Any partnering company found to be offering such unethical incentives to either IMO or any other associated company will be subject to sanction, potentially leading to loss of business contracts. Any worker who raises concerns about improper conduct of an employee or officer of the company will be ensured of protection of identity and non-retaliation. Intellectual property, whether it be of IMO, supplier or customer origin is respected and protected such that it is not disclosed to any third party without the appropriate permission of the holder. We recognise the need for responsible sourcing of materials and we are committed to compliance with the conflict minerals law and regulations. We exercise due diligence to ensure that our global supply chain does not contain or use such materials. We declare that all our products are “DRC Conflict Free” for gold (Au), tantalum (Ta), tungsten (W), cobalt (Co) and tin (Sn) and we confirm that these metals are not derived from or sourced from mines in conflict areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), or illegally moved on trade routes, which are controlled by non-governmental military groups, or unlawful military factions.
