Case Study: Livestock Barn Ventilation Solution

IMO Jeambrun SAS were approached by a local French OEM manufacturer of agricultural automation applications, to supply a selection of components for a unique ventilation solution for a livestock barn. The OEM's customer needed to be able to control the flow of air inside a large livestock barn, with a specific requirement that ensured the cows housed within were not in direct wind.

The solution involved the creation of a heavy duty curtains fitted to the sides of the barn that can be either raised or lowered to control the flow of air through the barn. The OEM then constructed a simple control panel featuring an IMO AC isolator and three IMO momentary pushbuttons to control the curtain movement. Additional to that, the panel utilised a BPS-1-15-24 industrial power supply, a C4 motor circuit breaker, mini contactors with auxiliary contact blocks, industrial relay and a selection of push-fit DIN rail terminals and several "floating" terminals from the SCP range.

The competitive prices offered by IMO enabled the OEM to offer a solution that was acceptable to the customer. The solution met all of the requirements of the customer, whilst providing the ability to expand the system to include remote control as well as other industrial automation features in the future, should the customer wish to do so.

"We selected IMO panel products in order to build a cost effective control panel for this livestock ventilation solution. The enclosure we selected offers easy access to all of the components, and we also chose a selection of different coloured terminals to make the wiring easier for our engineers, which also serves to make maintenance easier in the future, should that need arise. Our customer was very happy with the result, and the nature of the way the panel was created means it can always be expanded on in the future if the customer requires limit switches and remote control functionality.".
